In a groundbreaking collaboration, the Landscape Creation and Greening of Azerbaijan JSC under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and AZCHEMCO LLC have embarked on a new phase in their project to restore and reclaim saline soils for agricultural purposes, according to Report.

Representatives from both organizations recently visited various regions of Azerbaijan to identify suitable locations for soil sampling. Aghdash district emerged as the chosen site, where soil samples were collected from depths of 30 cm, 60 cm, and 90 cm under the supervision of experts from Azelab and Intertek laboratories.

"The soil samples, categorized according to their collection depths, were placed in a specially designed installation and treated with the agrochemical Drip-Drop 369 using a drip irrigation method. Once the soil is restored and the pH levels are regulated, liquid and water-soluble fertilizers produced by AZCHEMCO will be administered through the same channels," Rifat Sultan-zade, the Vice President of AZCHEMCO LLC, said in an interview.

According to specialists from AZCHEMCO LLC, at this stage, the soil in the installation has been fully treated with the Drip-Drop 369 product: "Today's sampling is necessary to analyze the modified soil composition and prepare an action plan for growing agricultural products."

The transformation of saline soils into agricultural land will help reduce the impact of agriculture on climate change. The presentation of this innovative project is scheduled for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).
